Mr. Abdullah al Kafy
Driven by passion for geospatial technologies and environmental sustainability, I have over seven years of experience in remote sensing, GIS, Machine Learning, and GeoAI models. My expertise spans Land Cover Dynamics, Thermal Environment, 2D-3D Spatial Modelling, Environmental Dynamics, Climate Modelling, and sustainability by utilizing Python, R, and Google Earth Engine. I earned my Masters in Geography and Environment from the University of Texas at Austin in Spring 2024 and began my PhD there in Fall 2024.
I have published over 30 peer-reviewed articles, receiving more than 3000 citations, with significant contributions to urban thermal environments, carbon emissions, and sustainable adaptation or mitigation measures. My career includes roles as an Urban Planner at ICLEI South Asia, GIS Specialist at Rajshahi Development Authority and B & F Company Ltd., and Research Consultant at the Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services. These positions have honed my skills in mapping land cover, natural assets, fragile urban systems, climate risk, and vulnerable hotspots.
My achievements have been recognized with awards such as the American Geographical Society Council Fellowship, Robert E. Veselka Memorial Fellowship, Provost's Graduate Excellence Fellowship and COLA Dissertation Research Award. As a member of the American Geographical Society, American Association of Geographers, and Bangladesh Institute of Planners, I am committed to advancing environmental sustainability and societal well-being through my research and expertise in geospatial technologies.
