Dr. Jennifer Bernstein

Dr. Jennifer Bernstein works at the Breakthrough Institute as an academic liaison, communicating and disseminating Breakthrough’s work in higher education. She is also Editor-in-Chief of Case Studies in the Environment, published by UC Press. She holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, as well as Masters degrees in geography and science education. Her work has been published in academic journals including the Journal of Environmental Studies and Sciences, Environmental History, The Journal of Environmental Education, Environmental Communication, and Nature Climate Change. Her popular writing has been featured in the Washington Post, the San Francisco Chronicle, and The Conversation. She serves on the board of the Association for Environmental Studies and Sciences branded book series. Dr. Bernstein was a Training and Retaining Women in STEM (TRELIS) 2020 Fellow and given the University of Southern California Dornsife Mentor of the Year Award in 2022.
