Ms. Alana Ginsburg

Alana Ginsburg is an undergraduate student at the University of Maryland College Park who has been involved with research on agricultural monitoring with Dr. Catherine Nakalembe and NASA Harvest since 2021. Her work has included using machine learning for crop yield modeling, and investigating patterns in the growth of the Earth Observation sector related to food security. In 2022, she was selected as a NOAA Hollings Scholar and recently completed an internship in the National Operations Center at the National Weather Service. Taking inspiration from her interest in science and society, she launched and directed UMD’s inaugural Student Sustainability Summit, which promoted interdisciplinary collaboration between students and professionals. Alana plans to pursue an advanced degree in Geography and is additionally interested in emergency management.
