Dr. Nicholas Parker

Nick Parker is an Environmental Security Policy Advisor and member of the Climate Security Analysis Team at PNNL, where he works to integrate climate modeling with human impacts. Prior to joining the lab, Nick spent over a decade on strategic forecasting efforts for the Intelligence Community and Army. Research topics included: climate and food security, water- and livelihood-conflict dynamics, demographics and urbanization, decarbonization and the energy transition, supply chain resilience, political instability and social unrest, mobilization and potential fracturing of armed groups, and wildlife trafficking. Nick holds a PhD in Natural Resources Management from the University of Michigan and a BA in Economics from Boston College, and has conducted several years of field research in Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, and Costa Rica.
