Mr. Faiyad H. Rishal

I am an aspiring geographer with a research focus on the human-environment interaction of climate and disaster risk, urban sustainability, GIS, and remote sensing. For my MS thesis, I am examining how land use land cover changes influence the urban heat island effect in South Asia using remote sensing techniques. I aim to connect these findings with policy interventions to reduce social inequality and better adapt to climate challenges. In the past, I have worked in research organizations, published academic papers, and presented at several international conferences. During my undergraduate studies at Jahangirnagar University, I led the Sustainable Campus project under our Climate Action initiative, where we assessed energy-related carbon footprints and suggested mitigation strategies to achieve net-zero emissions. I also have leadership experience in various social, business and volunteer organizations.
