Ms. Bessie Schwarz

Bessie is the CEO and Co-founder of Floodbase, an end-to-end data solution for enabling new types of flood insurance and disaster response. Floodbase has pioneered the science behind global continuous flood monitoring for the last decade, with their work appearing on the cover of Nature in 2021. Since its founding in 2016, Floodbase has worked with FEMA, the United Nations, and the world's largest re/insurers to help communities, governments, and corporations adapt to worsening floods. Floodbase is backed by leading climate tech investors including Lowercarbon, Collaborative Fund, and Floating Point. In 2022, Bessie was named to Business Insider’s list of 30 Top Climate Leaders. Prior to founding Floodbase, Bessie earned a Masters of Science from Yale University. She is also an Echoing Green Climate Fellow and founded the consulting arm of the Yale Program on Climate Change Communications.
